Dr.Sahar is an Emeritus Professor of Architecture and Urban Design at the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University. She chaired the Department of Architecture from 2013 to 2017. She is a leading scholar and practitioner in urban design and urban planning. Her national and international research focuses on sustainable urbanism and urban development. She co-edited 5 books. Dr. Sahar is a member of the Supreme Council of Planning and Urban Development in Egypt. She chairs the working group in Science and Technology at the Inter-parliamentary Union (IPU), a member of the Stakeholders’ Advisory Group Enterprise (SAGE) UN-Habitat, and co-chair of the University Network Initiative (UNI). She is also a board member of Ecocity Builders, a non-profit corporation in SF California. Attia received several awards including the Arab Women Award for Social Responsibility by the Arab League. Recently she was awarded the first Prize of Dubai Award for best practices for sustainable development UAE.
