Goonj

Building on over two decades of Goonj’s work in addressing menstrual health and hygiene in India, this initiative is rooted in the belief that dignity must never be compromised by silence or stigma. In rural India, millions of women continue to experience menstruation in secrecy, with limited access to safe products and entrenched cultural taboos. This initiative seeks to change that reality by combining access, awareness, affordability and action. Through MY Pads — affordable, reusable cloth pads made from recycled cotton — Goonj offers a sustainable solution, while Chuppi Todo Baithaks (Break the Silence meetings) create safe platforms for dialogue, knowledge sharing, and dismantling of myths. Each kit represents more than hygiene — it stands for dignity, resilience, and recognition of women’s rights. Linked with community-led water, sanitation, and hygiene efforts, the initiative promotes holistic well-being while reducing waste. By reaching 8,650 women with 17,300 MY Pad kits across India, Goonj transforms menstrual health into empowerment, equity, and lasting rural change.
