Arlene Harris is a veteran of the wireless industry. She grew up working in her family’s mobile telephone business in Los Angeles.

She has founded and been involved in numerous for profit and non profit ventures including the commercial success of the simplified cellular offering, Jitterbug, now owned by Best Buy. Her many innovations and patented inventions for both enterprise and consumer products and services have been foundational in the growth of the wireless industry including driving the creation of the first prepaid services that are now enabling billions of cellular users around the world who would otherwise not have access.

Harris serves on the Board of Advisors at the Institute of Design and Stuart School of Business at Illinois Tech; also the Counsel of Advisors at the Jacobs School of Engineering and the Don Norman founded Design Lab at the University of California San Diego. She is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions including induction into both the Wireless and Consumer Technology Halls of Fame. She holds an honorary doctorate of Engineering and Design from IIT.

She resides in Del Mar, California with her husband wireless pioneer Martin Cooper.
