Code for Pakistan
We spotlight the three projects that brought our attention to the parent organization: Code for Pakistan.
- Digitisation of Pharmaceutical Licenses for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department
- Floodlight : From Data to Action, the Impact of Community Collaboration on Disaster Response in Pakistan
- KP Women Civic Internship Program
Digitisation of Pharmaceutical Licenses
The digitisation project happened because Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Pakistan's third-largest province with 35 million citizens, faced significant challenges in the pharmaceutical sector, exacerbated by widespread illegal pharmacies, counterfeit licenses, and the proliferation of substandard drugs, impacting citizens' health. In 2020, a team of early-career practitioners digitized pharmaceutical license procedures to regulate KP's pharmaceutical industry.
Floodlight: Community Collaboration on Disaster Response in Pakistan
FloodLight was launched in 2022 in response to the devastating floods in Pakistan. Cities and towns were flooded and submerged, rendering 33 million citizens homeless. Inadequate information hindered relief efforts, impeding effective disaster response. Floodlight's mission was to crowdsource data from flood-affected areas, providing crucial flood mapping data to volunteers, aid organizations, and the government, assisting those most affected by the floods.
KP Women Civic Internship Program
The KP Women Civic Internship Program selects participants based on qualifications, skills, and experience, ensuring a diverse cohort. Mentors, chosen for their expertise in tech fields like development and design, typically have over three years of industry experience, providing valuable insights aligned with industry needs and human-centered design principles.
