The Design Village: A Multidisciplinary Design College, offers BDes and MDes degrees
The Design Village's Curriculum is designed to keep social, environmental, cultural, economic and post-anthropocentric impact at the centre of all courses and degrees we provide. We believe that we must create crossectional HCD+ learning – making us always mindful of life, livelihood, sustenance and existence beyond the Anthropocene.
Potential students at TDV are selected through a rigorous process involving facilitators and TDV graduates. Applicants undergo an online expressive examination focused on the four pillars: Courage, Perseverance, Awareness, and Compassion, followed by a 20-minute interview with a faculty member. Only those who demonstrate potential across all stages are selected.
TDV’s facilitators come from diverse backgrounds, blending professional or research practices with teaching. This includes experts in climate-responsive architecture, sustainable materials, craft-led brand development, biomaterials, museum practices, and sustainable mobility, alongside over 60 industry professionals who contribute annually. This diverse expertise ensures that the content remains relevant and connected to the outside world.
The interaction between learners and facilitators is marked by a balance of lightness and rigorous challenge, encouraging students to step out of their comfort zones where real learning occurs. At TDV, teachers do more than instruct—they inspire. They instill a relentless pursuit of knowledge, pushing students to go beyond the ordinary and experience their own 'aha' moments.
